Big Sean Denies Dissing Kendrick Lamar In New Freestyle: ‘I’m Talking To Da Haters’
Big Sean is setting the record straight.
The 36-year-old rapper stopped by On The Radar with Gabe P and delivered a freestyle that had fans speculating he dissed fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.
Rapping over Aaliyah’s If Your Girl Only Knew beat, Big Sean opened his freestyle with the lines:
“I had to switch the home team ’cause they committed treason/Eliantte how the piece hit, I’m feeling seasick/N***as looking for engagement like they got they knee bent/I got better things to do than find someone to beef with/Or else I’m off the deep end/This game will take you either way, you know it’s offense-defense.”
Soon after the freestyle dropped, social media users took to X (formerly Twitter) to speculate that Big Sean was subliminally dissing Not Like Us rapper Kendrick Lamar, citing his use of buzzwords such as “engagement,” “activist,” and “beef.”
X user @chriscznn wrote,
“Big Sean disses Dot multiple times …
‘N***** looking for engagement like they got they knee bent
I got better things to do than find someone to beef with’Dot being engaged to Whitney for 9 years, and also engaging in a beef with Drake for clout.
‘Difference is I’m an activist and you drink actavis and I’m back acclimated … And Imma need my cut off top it’s decapitated’
Kendrick has made references to drinking lean in songs like Michael Jordan, Blow my High and has been accused of being a fake activist multiple times.
References how top dawg has been taking Dots money, Big Sean is saying he needs his money full cut, Top is not taking 50 from him.”
Well, Big Sean took to X (Formerly Twitter) to clarify a few things.
In a now-deleted tweet, he stated,
“Yall goin wit so many narratives, im talking to da haters who just keep finding something to point out they dont like bout me … Its not even worth explaining tho im a just focus on the music.”
DJ Hed also claimed to have spoken with Big Sean, who said his freestyle was not aimed at Kendrick Lamar but was directed at a different Gemini:
“I talked to Sean. The bar was
‘I got better things to do then find someone to beef with’
And it was not for Dot.
Bar was directed at a different Gemini.”
Fans will have to wait for Big Sean’s highly anticipated upcoming album to hear more. Meanwhile, his song with Eminem, Tobey, is climbing the charts, reaching #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.
