Rapper EST Gee’s Manager Killed Following Concert w/ Yo Gotti Amid Safety Concerns From Government Officials
In a tragic turn of events, EST Gee’s manager, Devontae Beach, better known as EST Big Beach, was shot and killed just hours after the rapper’s concert in Louisville, Kentucky, despite heightened security measures.
The incident occurred after the EST Gee & Friends: Summer Jam concert at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday night (July 20).
Despite the heavy police presence, Devontae Beach, 31, was found shot to death inside a car on Main Street, just a few blocks from the concert venue, around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Louisville police spokesperson Aaron Ellis confirmed the tragic news, stating,
“Beach was pronounced dead on the scene shortly after EMS arrived, and police are now searching for suspects.”
The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) had anticipated potential violence at the sold-out concert, which featured guest appearances from prominent artists including 42 Dugg, Lil Baby, Icewear Vezzo, and CMG label head Yo Gotti (EST Gee’s Label).
LMPD deployed extensive security measures. At least 80 officers, including members of the special response team, SWAT, air unit, and criminal interdiction unit, were stationed outside the venue from 4 p.m. until midnight.
Concerns about potential violence had been raised before the concert, stemming from a 2021 investigation that led to the federal indictment of 10 members of the “Everybody Shine Together” gang on drug trafficking charges. The FBI and LMPD had accused the gang of terrorizing Louisville’s communities.
A letter from County Attorney Mike O’Connell to the general manager of the KFC Yum! Center highlighted the safety concerns, stating:
“I do not think the vast majority of citizens of Louisville know anything much about EST/Gee and if they did, I believe they would overwhelmingly support Major Rhudy’s request to cancel the concert.”
Despite these concerns, the concert proceeded, and shortly afterward, Devontae Beach was found dead.
The LMPD’s Homicide Unit is currently investigating the shooting, but no suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made.
Condolences to the friends, family, and colleagues of Devontae Beach. Share your thoughts below!
