Wayne Brady Reveals He Quietly Welcomed A Baby Boy w/ His Ex-Girlfriend: ‘I Didn’t See It Coming’

Sometimes, life comes at you fast.

On Wednesday’s (July 24) debut of his new reality show, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, Wayne Brady revealed to viewers that he quietly welcomed a baby boy months ago named Val with his ex-girlfriend Tina. Speaking on how the latest addition to his family was “not on [his] bingo card, Wayne Brady said,

“When I first found out … I was floored. A 51-year-old dad? I didn’t see it coming. So was I happy? No. Because I was in shock.”

The “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” star is now officially a father of two. His oldest child, daughter Maile Brady, was born in February 2003. Wayne Brady shares the 21-year-old with his ex-wife Mandie Taketa.

Wayne Brady dated the mother of his infant son on and off during the pandemic. The celeb reflected on questions he asked himself about their unique situation, sharing that he thought,

“How do I co-parent with this person that I am not with and make this work?”

Mandie Taketa, also featured on Wayne’s new show alongside her life partner Jason Fordham and daughter, revealed how the already blended family learned a baby was being added to the mix.

“Tina and Wayne had been broken up a year. Then [his] grandma Val passes away, so we go to her funeral in the Virgin Islands, then we come back. Something happened — you fill in the blank, then, two weeks later, we get a phone call from Tina that she’s pregnant with Wayne’s baby.”

Maile Brady shared that she did not “initially [feel] super happy” about her half-sibling’s arrival because she’s not the biggest fan of her dad’s ex. However, a part of her concerns had to do with being “worried” for her famous dad’s well-being.

There are a lot of new chapters in Wayne’s life. In addition to the reality show and baby son, last year he came out as pansexual. To keep up with him, his loved ones, and their lives be sure to tune into Wayne Brady: The Family Remix on Freeform and Hulu.
