Justin Timberlake’s Attorney Says ‘He Was Not Intoxicated’ On Night Of DWI + Alleges Police ‘Made Very Significant Errors’ When Filing Paperwork

Justin Timberlake‘s attorney is maintaining his innocence.

Over a month after the 43-year-old singer and actor was arrested for a DWI, his lawyer Edward Burke said following a procedural conference on Friday (July 26),

“He was not intoxicated. I’ll say it again. Justin Timberlake was not intoxicated.”

Burke said, according to the Associated Press, that he wants the charge tossed out, claiming police made “very significant errors” when submitting paperwork.

Meanwhile, Burke is insisting his client was not intoxicated. He said in a new statement,

“The police made a number of very significant errors in this case. In court today, you heard the district attorney try to fix one of those errors. But that’s just one and there are many others. Sometimes the police make mistakes and this is just one of those instances.”

Burke did note that Justin Timberlake has nothing but respect for police and that they were amicable throughout his arrest.
Refusing to go back and forth, O’Neil said,
“We stand ready to litigate the underlying facts of this case in court, rather than in the press.”

Justin Timberlake was driving a 2025 BMW when he was stopped by police around 12:30 a.m. in the Hamptons’ Sag Harbor on June 18. He had allegedly run a stop sign and swerved between lanes. He reportedly told officers that he had only had one martini that night and was following a group of friends home. He refused to take a breathalyzer.
Court papers detailed,

“His eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

Sag Harbor Village Justice Justice Carl Irace ruled that Timberlake can be re-arraigned on Friday, Aug. 2, with he proper documents.
