Simone Biles Addresses Bizarre Criticism From NFLer Marlon Humphrey After He Called Her ‘Disgusting’ For Bowing To Olympic Competitor
As the old saying goes, “Haters gon’ hate.”
Monday’s (Aug. 5) floor finals ended with US Olympic gymnasts Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles walking away with silver and bronze medals respectively. The talented ladies came in second and third place behind Brazilian gymnast Rebeca Andrade. The event made history as it marked Rebeca Andrade’s first gold medal of the summer and the first time there was an all-Black winning podium in Olympic gymnastics history.
To celebrate such a special occasion, Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles bowed to Rebeca Andrade as she stepped on the podium to receive her medal. The picture taken of the three gymnasts quickly went viral, however, not everyone was pleased with Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles’ gesture.

Speaking on the moment, Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey posted on X,
“This is literally disgusting”

The NFLer soon faced a lot of backlash over his bizarre criticism. Biles even seemingly addressed his remark, explaining why she decided to bow to Andrade during a newly aired interview with Hoda Kotb, she said,
“I think it’s all about sportsmanship, and we don’t care whether we win or lose. We’re always going to keep a good face and support our competitors because they’ve worked just as hard as we have for that moment.”
And continued,
“So you have to give them their flowers. And that’s exactly what me and Jordan were doing, and we were so happy for her. She deserved it. She had the best floor routine of the day and in the Olympics. So it’s like, yeah, she deserved it.”

Marlon Humphrey has yet to explain why he was disgusted by the gymnasts bowing. However, he has taken back to X to acknowledge the backlash, writing,
“I’m lowkey getting cooked right now. I think I’m getting cussed out in Brazilian on Instagram lol”

He also laughed off the countless people slamming him via his Instagram Story, claiming he can “never go to Brazil now.”
