Usher Slammed By Fans After Postponing Concert Hours Before Tour Opener In Atlanta: ‘Trying Hard Not To Say F*ck Him!’
Many people are unexpectedly left without plans tonight after Usher abruptly canceled his tour opener.
Not too long ago, Usher took to his socials and shared a post informing his millions of followers and large fan base that he has postponed his Atlanta concert scheduled for tonight (Aug. 14). Explaining why, he shared in the statement,
“For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans. I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal.”
Seemingly trying to get ahead of any disappointment that may follow the breaking news, he added,
“The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best.”
At the time of this report, it’s unclear when tonight’s show will be rescheduled, but Usher’s still set to take the stage in Atlanta at the State Farm Arena on Friday and Saturday. Despite the explanation from the “My Boo” artist, many people have flooded the comment section of his post with criticism for the last-minute change of plans.
Noting how far they traveled to see their fav, one person wrote,
“I drove hrs to see you tonight, all the rehearsal you been posting and what not and now today you postponed the opening day?! This is crazy!!!! You had since February to get it together. I’m upset and very at that — you knew this since last night, I bet you do the concert on Friday and Saturday tho”
Bringing in similar sentiments to the conversation, another expressed,
“Some of yall saying this and that bc tonight (Wednesday)is not the night you are supposed to see him! As a fan for 3O years I’m I titled to my feelings and that’s that!!! I’ve made arrangements for a baby sitter, rental cars, gas, hotel, job, hair, nails etc. If he’s sick I can understand but I still I have expenses period!!!!! Traveling is not a drive down the street and go home its traffic, time etc.”
While some did come to Usher’s defense, sharing they understand his health is more important than seeing him in concert, countless others didn’t hold back as they called him out over the cancelation. Over on X (formerly Twitter), Usher trended as people debated if he handled the situation correctly.
One fan even suggested he should have just “taken a year off” because “going on tour a few months after a long residency in Vegas is a lot”
Another expressed concerns whether this is just the beginning of a disappointing tour from the Grammy Award winner.
“I literally remember thinking, how is Usher going to make it through this long tour with the way he’s been putting in work.
Cancelling the first show is telling. You know how exhausted/sick you have to be to cancel the FIRST show?? Whew I’m praying for him”
