Halle Berry Reportedly ‘Furious’ Amid Heated Custody Battle w/ Ex-Husband Olivier Martinez

Halle Berry’s custody battle with ex-husband Olivier Martinez has reached a boiling point.

In the latest development, the Oscar-winning actress, 58, is reportedly “furious” as she fights for sole custody of their 10-year-old son, Maceo Martinez.

Halle Berry claims that Olivier Martinez, also 58, has been uncooperative in co-parenting, making it difficult to address their son’s “educational challenges.”

According to court documents obtained by In Touch Weekly, Halle Berry has been advocating for tutoring and therapy for Maceo Martinez, but alleges that Olivier Martinez, who receives $8,000 per month in child support, has been “oppositional” to these interventions.

An insider told a media outlet,

“She’s furious and fighting for her son.”

The tension escalated on Aug. 26 when Martinez’s attorney requested a delay in the hearing over Berry’s demand for sole custody, citing the need for more time to address “false claims” and a “twisted narrative.” The lawyer also argued that Berry is seeking “new, extraordinary, and draconian relief” by wanting sole authority over their son’s mental health and educational decisions, including the use of psychiatric medication.

Berry and Martinez’s turbulent relationship dates back to their initial romance in 2010, followed by a whirlwind engagement in 2011. The couple married in July 2013 and welcomed their son Maceo in October of the same year.

However, the marriage began to show signs of strain by 2015. Berry filed for divorce later that year, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Although they were declared legally single in 2016, the custody battle over Maceo has continued to linger, and their divorce was not finalized until last year.

The ongoing legal battle is the latest in Berry’s contentious history with exes. In 2023, she was ordered to pay Martinez $8,000 monthly in child support and cover Maceo’s school and extracurricular costs. This followed a 2014 ruling requiring her to pay Gabriel Aubry $16,000 monthly for their daughter Nahla Aubry, later reduced to $8,000 in 2021.

After years of court battles, it’s no surprise that Halle Berry has been vocal about her frustrations with the child support system. She once commented on Instagram:

“The way many laws are set up, people are allowed to USE children in order to be awarded money to live a lifestyle that not only did they not earn, but that is way above and beyond the child’s reasonable needs.”

The next chapter in this heated custody dispute is set to unfold as both sides prepare for the upcoming court proceedings.
