T-Boz Accuses Ruth’s Chris Employees Of Racial Discrimination, Says The Manager Tried To Kick Her Out For Wearing A Hat Despite Allowing Others To Do So
R&B vet T-Boz wasn’t pleased with her recent visit to an Illinois restaurant.
The TLC member blasted employees of a Ruth’s Chris steakhouse, suggesting she was discriminated against while dining at the eatery.

Tionne ‘T-Boz‘ Watkins expressed her frustrations about the situation in a video posted to Instagram. The “Waterfalls” singer explained that she just arrived to the restaurant in Northbrook, IL straight off a plane and didn’t have time to do her hair, resulting in her wearing a hat. When being seated, the musician says employees at Ruth’s Chris began scrambling around one another like something was amiss, but failed to communicate that there was an issue with her hat violating their dress code policy.

Some time after ordering, T-Boz says a manager approached the group and requested that she either remove her hat or move to the bar, which the singer says she refused to do as her group had already gotten “comfortable” and were ready to eat. Additionally, T-Boz says she took issue with the fact that staffers didn’t explain the dress code from the beginning, and was further insulted because there were apparently two individuals sitting not too far from her who were also wearing hats. When asked why those customers were allowed to say, the manager reportedly claimed that they were asked to remove the items but didn’t do so before finishing their meals.
Being perfectly clear about her issue with the situation, T-Boz stated in the video:
“My thing is, I don’t have a problem with rules…but it’s how you do things to.”
She continued:
“If somebody would’ve said that, we would’ve went and [changed] in the first place….but then…they served [the other customers], took their money, gave them a check. They didn’t kick they a** out. And that’s what they was supposed to do if they didn’t abide by the rules.”
Alluding to racial discrimination playing a role in the situation, T-Boz furthered:
“Come to find out…everybody’s crew look like they sitting in the [massa’s] section. Why is all the Black people in this section, and then [the other customer] got a hat on that says ‘F**k it’…so my whole thing is…everybody said they felt some weird vibes.”
She added as a caption to the post:
“I Don’t Expect Special Treatment But I Expect The RULES To Make Sense… So Make It Make Sense… She Was Contradicting [Herself]And NO ONE DID [THEIR] JOB SO WE LEFT AND DIDN’T EAT THERE…And A lot Of People In Our Crews Felt Racially Profiled Just Saying”
T-Boz ended her rant with a suggestion for the restaurant owners to retrain all their staff members, managers included.
