Megan Thee Stallion On Being Overly Ridiculed & Criticized By Black Men: ‘At This Point In Life, I Really Don’t Care’
Megan Thee Stallion is focusing on those who love her, and ignoring those who don’t.
It’s no secret that some of Megan Thee Stallion’s biggest haters are men, specifically speaking Black men. After being shot by Tory Lanez, who’s currently serving 10 years for the incident, Megan Thee Stallion had to deal with not just internet trolls degrading her but also famous Black men such as 50 Cent and Yung Joc who claimed she was lying. However, both have since retracted their remarks and apologized to the “Hiss” artist.

Another person who recently gave Megan an apology was retired NFLer-turned-media personality Shannon Sharpe. During his Club Shay Shay interview with the Grammy Award winner, Shannon Sharpe took a moment to say sorry for sexual remarks he once made about Megan.

Thankfully, Megan appears to be in a place in life where she’s good with or without the apologies. In a newly published cover story with Billboard, the rapper was asked if she feels the apologies coming her way are a sign she’s winning Black men over. Answering truthfully, Megan replied,
“At this point in life, I really don’t care. Maybe if you would’ve asked me this last year or two years ago, I would’ve wished I had more Black people in general in my corner. It would’ve felt nice to be protected by some Black men in this instance, but the more I wasn’t getting it, the more and more I realized I wasn’t going to get it. Who should feel safe and important at the end of the day is me, and I was going to have to make myself feel that way. I wasn’t going to find it in people I don’t know at all. Now I don’t care. As long as I make myself feel happy, then that’s what matters to me.”

Elsewhere during the interview, Megan touched on reclaiming her power.
“I used to really care how I made a lot of people feel before how I made myself feel, before how they made me feel. Somebody could make me feel like complete s–t, but I still never wanted to do anything to make anybody else feel like s–t. I still don’t want to make people feel like s–t. At least now I know, ‘Let me put up my boundary.'”
She continued,
“As soon as you make me feel a way that I don’t like, I just don’t want to deal with you anymore. You don’t got to fight evil with evil, but I don’t have to deal with this at all. I don’t have to do things to make other people smile. What am I going to do to make me smile? What you going to do to make me smile? Everything was about making other people smile and other people happy. Now I’m in a space where I want to be happy. I’m not going to take away [from] being happy so I can put other people’s life and happiness as a priority over mine.”
Megan definitely seems to be reaping the rewards of making herself happy. Her recently released self-titled album, where she talks about her battles with depression and finding herself again, was well-received by music critics. She’s also thriving in other aspects of her career and will host this year’s VMAs.
