Update: 14-Year-Old Colt Gray’s Father, Colin Gray, Charged w/Manslaughter & Murder After Georgia School Shooting

Update #3: (Sept. 6, 2024): Colt Gray’s father Colin Gray has been charged with manslaughter and murder after a tragic school shooting in Georgia.

Colin Gray allegedly opened fire with an AR-15 style rifle at Apalachee High School on Wednesday, Sept. 4, killing two of his classmates and two teachers, and injuring nine people. He has been charged with four counts of murder and will be tried as an adult.

Now, his father Colin Gray has also been arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree murder on Thursday (Sept. 5). He was also charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter and eight counts of cruelty to children.

Chris Hosey, director of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, said in a press conference Thursday night that Colin Gray allegedly

“knowingly allowed [his son] to possess the weapon. His charges are directly connected to the actions of his son.

Last year, Colt Gray was questioned by the FBI about threats he allegedly made on Discord about carrying out a school shooting. He denied those allegations at the time.

His aunt Annie Brown also said that he had been “begging” the adults around him to get him help mentally.

Colt Gray’s grandfather, Charles Polhamus, had been pushing for charges against Colin Gray before his arrest, stating,

“If he didn’t have a damn gun, he wouldn’t have gone and killed anybody.”

Update #2: (Sept. 5, 2024): New details have surfaced in the school shooting that took place at Apalachee High School.

According to reports, a 14-year-old named Colt Gray has been charged with four counts of murder following the tragic school shooting that occurred in Winder, Georgia (about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta). Gray is scheduled to make his first appearance in Barrow County Superior Court tomorrow morning (Sept. 6). He’s currently being held at the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center. Reports also note that Gray will be tried as an adult.

As reported, on Wednesday (Sept. 4) Gray opened fire inside his high school. His actions resulted in the injuries of many and the deaths of students Mason Schermerhorn and Christian Angulo, both 14, assistant football coach Richard “Ricky” Aspinwall, 39, and math teacher Christina Irimie, 53.

Gray’s motives have not been revealed at this time. However, in 2023 the teen was investigated by the FBI over several anonymous tips about threats he allegedly made to commit a school shooting.

Update #1: (Sept. 4, 2024): New details have surfaced in the school shooting that took place this morning in Winder, Georgia.

According to a recently updated report from CNN, at least 4 people have died in the school shooting that occurred at Apalachee High School, and 30 others were injured. It’s currently unclear how many of those injuries are gunshot wounds, according to law enforcement sources. It also has not been released to the public at the moment if the suspect, who is in custody, is a student of the high school.

Original Story: (Sept. 4, 2024): Sad news!

The school year for many has just started and already, there’s a school shooting to report. News just broke that a shooting has taken place at Apalachee High School located in Winder, Georgia (about 40 miles northeast of Atlanta). There have been at least two deaths reported thus far and several others are said to have been injured during the incident.

According to reports, law enforcement agencies were dispatched to the school around 10:30 this morning.

The school district has released a statement on the scary event, saying,

“The Barrow County Sheriff’s Office says this is for the safety of everyone right now. Please do not visit your child’s school at this time. We cannot release students during a lockdown. We will let you know as soon as BCSO says it is all clear for dismissal.”

However, since then it seems that the students have been cleared to leave and have been released to their families.

One person has been taken into custody.
