Selena Gomez Shares She’s Unable To ‘Carry Her Own Children’ Due To ‘A Lot Of Medical Issues’
Selena Gomez is opening up about her chances of carrying her own children.
The former child Disney star has been honest over the years about some of the ongoing health conditions she battles. Roughly 10 years ago she was diagnosed with lupus. Then in 2017, Selena Gomez underwent a kidney transplant. During a newly published cover story, Selena Gomez revealed how her health history has left long-lasting effects. Speaking of possibly giving birth one day, Gomez revealed for the first time,
“I haven’t ever said this…but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.”
She continued,
“[But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”
As previously reported, Gomez is currently dating record producer Benny Blanco. The couple started dating in 2023 and during an interview earlier this summer with Howard Stern, Benny Blanco praised his girlfriend as he shared his hopes of them growing even closer together. He expressed,
“When I look at her … I’m always just like, I don’t know a world where it could be better than this…People always said this to me, when you know you meet your best friend, she truly is my best friend…We laugh all f—ing day, she inspires me.”

Speaking on the love she’ll have for her future children, regardless of how they come into the world, Gomez added in her latest cover interview,
“It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
