Tyrese Says He Was ‘Never Arrested’ For Failure To Pay Ex-Wife $73,000 In Owed Child Support: ‘I Was Held In A Room’
Despite what he recently shared online, Tyrese wants the world to know that he was never arrested for failure to pay child support.
Earlier this week news broke that the R&B singer and actor was held in contempt for back child support and legal fees owed to his ex-wife Samantha Lee totaling $73,000. As reported, it wasn’t expected for Tyrese to remain in custody for an extended period as he was said to have made arrangements for the debt to be settled. However, updated reports noted that Tyrese didn’t fork over what’s owed (at least not yet) but instead, his lawyer filed an appeal. The appeal doesn’t mean he’s able to walk away from the 5-figure debt, the matter is just now delayed until the appeal is dealt with.
Following the crazy ordeal, Tyrese took to IG and shared a lengthy post that, in part, said,
“Being arrested yesterday was not only shocking but also very traumatic….”
However, while on IG Live last night (Sep. 11), Tyrese set the record straight and said he was never arrested.
“You woke to the headlines that I was arrested, which I was not. I was never put in handcuffs, I was never arrested. I was held in a room and my lawyer Tanya Mitchell Graham quickly on her feet — [the judge] made his ruling about me being in contempt of court — and then my lawyer ran down stairs and instantly appealed [the judge’s] ruling.”
According to Tyrese, thanks to his attorney’s “quick punctual thinking” he was released from the “holding room” after two hours.
@livebitez Tyrese clarifies that he was not arrested, contrary to headlines, but was held in a room and released after his lawyer appealed a contempt of court ruling
