Miley Cyrus Sued For Allegedly Copying Bruno Mars’ Hit Song In Her Track ‘Flowers’
Miley Cyrus may need to buy herself more than just flowers—she could also use a full legal team to handle her latest lawsuit.
The 31-year-old singer’s hit single Flowers is now facing a legal challenge, with claims that it may have been inspired by Bruno Mars’ 2013 hit When I Was Your Man.
Tempo Music Investments, the company behind the lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles court, alleges that Miley Cyrus’ Flowers mirrors significant elements of Bruno Mars’ song. The lawsuit argues that the melody, harmony, and chorus in Flowers are strikingly similar to the verse in Mars’ ballad, with the resemblance extending to chord progressions and some lyrics, suggesting intentional copying by Cyrus.
In the legal documents, Tempo Music states,
“It is undeniable based on the combination and number of similarities between the two recordings that ‘Flowers’ would not exist without ‘When I Was Your Man.’”
Tempo Music is seeking to prevent Cyrus from reproducing, distributing, or performing Flowers while pursuing unspecified damages.
Although Bruno Mars is not a plaintiff in this case, the legal action targets Miley Cyrus and her collaborators, including co-writers Gregory Hein and Michael Pollack, as well as Sony Music Publishing and Apple.

This comes as a setback for Cyrus, as her song Flowers, released in January 2023, peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned her the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
Representatives for Cyrus and Mars have yet to comment; however, fans and industry insiders will watch closely as the legal process unfolds.
