Update: Diddy Charged w/ Sex Trafficking & Racketeering
Update: Diddy’s charges have been revealed. The disgraced mogul has been indicted on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, according to People.
Cassie’s attorney said she has no comment on the development.
Original Story: Diddy has been taken into custody.
The Bad Boys Records founder and music mogul was arrested in a hotel in Manhattan on Monday, Sept. 16, after being indicted by a federal jury, according to several reports.
It’s unclear what he was charged with exactly, as the indictment is currently sealed and prosecutors have not publicly announced the charges yet. However, that could change within hours as Manhattan U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said on Monday,
“We expect to move to unseal the indictment in the morning and will have more to say at that time.”
Meanwhile, Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo expressed disappointment with the arrest.
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.”
He referenced Diddy’s contribution to the music industry before calling him a “loving family man,” adding,
“He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
The charges in New York come 10 months after his former girlfriend, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura” accused him of physical abuse, sexual assault, drug use, and sex trafficking in a bombshell lawsuit. He has faced nearly a dozen similar lawsuits since then, with the most recent being from former Danity Kane member Dawn Richard.
His homes in Los Angeles and Miami were raided by Homeland Security agents in March as well.
