Looks like Jennifer Lopez’s mother knew way back in the day that Diddy was not the man for her daughter.

In a resurfaced clip that has recently gone viral, Guadalupe Rodríguez quickly shut down suggestions that the “Jenny From The Block” singer should reignite things with Diddy.

The video originated from a 2015 interview Jennifer Lopez had with Wendy Williams on her eponymous talk show. After the TV host remarked that she “could always see” the songstress “getting back with Puffy in a little way,” the crowd roared with cheers and applause before the camera panned to Guadalupe Rodríguez, who motioned her hands in a dismissive way, appearing to state:

Though Lopez herself seemed tickled by the notion, stating that she remembered Wendy Williams making that comment to her before, she later made it clear that she was over the relationship as well. In case you’re unfamiliar, Diddy – who went by Puff Daddy at the time – famously dated Lopez from 1999 – 2001. Her mother’s apparent disdain for the hip-hop veteran was reportedly well-known even back then.

One report notes that Lopez was with Diddy during the famous NYC club shooting in 1999 that ended with the couple being arrested. A former NYPD detective who was present that evening later detailed Guadalupe’s alleged reaction to her daughter spending 14 hours behind bars, recalling:

“Her mother was yelling at J.Lo in Spanish and she was really mad at Jennifer…I heard her say, ‘I told you not to get involved with (him).’”

The resurfaced clip of Guadalupe’s disapproval of Diddy comes amid his recent arrest. As we’ve been covering, the serial entrepreneur was indicted on RICO charges and is accused of using his business to run an organized criminal ring involved in sex trafficking, narcotics, intimidation, assault, and more.

A court judge has denied Diddy’s attempt at bail, leaving him behind bars until his trial commences. However, his lawyer has already stated he plans to appeal the bond denial.
