Rick Ross On Reconciling w/ Trick Trick After Decades-Long Beef: ‘Here We Are Moving Forward’
No more beefing for Rick Ross and Trick Trick!
The musicians have settled decades of tension between them, hugging things out during a recent performance and making it clear that things are all good.
Rick Ross and Trick Trick’s reunion came during Death Row co-founder Michael “Harry O” Harris‘ Our Community First Action concert in Pontiac on Tuesday (September 17). During his performance Trick Trick, real name Christian Mathis, 51, surprised attendees by warmly welcoming to the stage Rick Ross, real name William Roberts II, 48, who then went on to perform his 2010 single “I’m Not A Star.”
In case you’re unfamiliar, the reconciliation has been a long time coming between the two, who were rumored to first start feuding back in 2014. Reports state that at the time, Trick Trick was upset with Rick Ross for not “checking in” with Detroit’s influential figures before coming to perform at the city’s Summer Jamz concert. In an attempt to bar the Maybach Music founder from the show, Trick Trick was said to have rallied 100 of his associates to scare Ross off. He also allegedly put out a “no-fly zone” against Ross.
However, Trick Trick later shot down the rumors, insisting that the issue (if one did exist) was a simple disagreement between the two artists. He stated in a video at the time:
“That man’s a musician. I’m a musician. We musicians. Our business don’t belong on the internet. And it ain’t none of your motherf***ing business what me and that man [got] going on. Or what the f**k happened out there that day.”
He added:
“What the f**k I look like telling a man he gotta pay me to come to my d**n city? I don’t mean no-motherf***ing-body no harm. If I had an incident with an individual and some hands got put on that motherf***er. Aye, god d***it that’s what the f**k happened.”
Ross spoke out following their recent show of unity, thanking Harris for setting the moment up and celebrating their ability to take positive steps forward. In a video posted to Instagram, he stated:
“I want to take time out and salute the ones really making a difference in the community. The big homie Harry O, what you doing with Community First, I love it.”
He added:
“You flying me out last night, you having Trick Trick bring me out on stage. I’m sure everybody knows me and Trick Trick had our differences for over a decade and here we are just moving forward, doing big things in the community. We got some more big things coming.”
