Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis Refused Call From VP Kamala Harris About Hurricane Milton Aid
Safe to say Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis isn’t the biggest fan of Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to several news outlets, Ron DeSantis refused to take calls from the presidential hopeful regarding help for Hurricane Milton.
A DeSantis aide familiar with the situation shared with NBC News that he was dodging her calls because they “seemed political.”
They added,
“Kamala was trying to reach out, and we didn’t answer.”

However, on Monday during a press conference (Oct. 8), DeSantis denied that he refused to take Harris’ call. He claimed,
“I didn’t know that she had called. I’m not sure who they called. They didn’t call me. Their characterization of it was something that they did. It wasn’t anything that anybody in my office did, in terms of saying it was political.”
Addressing the situation, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said,
“That’s really for the governor to speak to himself. If you have the president and you have the vice president reaching out to offer up assistance, provided to your constituents, the people who live in your state, to make sure we are doing everything that we need to do from a federal response, and we’re reaching out, offering our support, that’s for the governor. The governor, it’s up to him if he wants to respond to us or not.”
