‘Tiger King’ Star Carole Baskin Defends Purchasing $895K Home w/ Funds From Big Cat Rescue Organization
Tiger King star Carole Baskin recently purchased an expensive property under the name of her charity organization.
Documents obtained by TMZ reveal that the Big Cat Rescue CEO and her husband Howard, who is also the organization’s treasurer, bought the Odessa, Florida residence for $895,000 late last year. The report notes that a mortgage doesn’t appear on the deed, so it’s believed the property was paid for outright with money from Baskin’s charity.
When asked about the home, Carole Baskin explained that she and Howard sold their previous wildlife sanctuary/headquarters and moved the cats once housed there to the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Arkansas.
Speaking about the purchase of the property, Carole Baskin stated:
“We are still in business and plan to be for at least the next 40 years. We needed a place to work from.”
She added:
“There is nothing nefarious about purchasing the property we bought to replace it since it’s used for our office work funding conservation programs in the wild, fundraising event, board meetings and storage of the records and equipment from the grounds we are vacating.”
