‘The Vampire Diaries’ Star Ian Somerhalder Seemingly Confirms Acting Retirement: That’s ‘In The Rear View Mirror’
One famous vampire has seemingly wrapped up his time in the spotlight.
While speaking with PEOPLE at the Environmental Media Association (EMA) Awards Gala this past weekend, “The Vampire Diaries” alum Ian Somerhalder chatted about exiting the entertainment industry after he moved from Los Angeles with his wife, “Thirteen” actress Nikki Reed. Touching on his acting career, which started in the late 90s, Ian Somerhalder said,
“I think it’s in the rearview mirror. I do.”

Ian Somerhalder then shared what could make him put on his acting cap one more time,
“Well, I dunno, we got the rights back for V Wars, but I just don’t know how the hell we would ever make a TV show.”
As far as what he’s been doing instead of acting, he added,
“We’re building three companies at the same time, raising kids.”
“V Wars” was a short-lived science fiction horror TV series that was released on Netflix in 2019. In March 2020, after just one season, the show was canceled. It also marked Ian’s final acting role to date.
