Ashanti Calls Nelly Her Soulmate: ‘It’s An Amazing Feeling’

Ashanti is opening up about her connection with husband Nelly.

When asked about their relationship at Nelly’s 50th birthday bash, Ashanti shared,

“We are both very strong-willed. I’ve learned a lot about being grateful, graceful, and giving people grace, being open-minded and level-headed, and not too emotional.”

She continued,

“I have my soulmate, my person, my best friend, my protector. It’s an amazing feeling. I think just the universe doesn’t make mistakes.”

Nelly also praised Ashanti, stating,

“She’s a great person, she’s a great mother.”

They’ve come a long way as a couple, first meeting at the Grammy Awards in 2003 and dating until 2013. After a decade apart, they rekindled their romance in September 2023 and secretly married in December in Nelly’s hometown of St. Louis, Missouri.
