Diddy’s Mom Accused of Helping Him Steal Publishing & Royalty Rights From Artists
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mother Janice Combs is being accused of helping her son commit organized crimes.
According to the Daily Mail, a man named Deon ‘D1’ Best, who says he used to work with Diddy’s Bad Boys Records label, claims the jailed hip-hop star used his mother’s name and company to hide business deals in order to steal publishing rights and future royalty earnings from him and other artists.

During an episode of the outlet’s ‘The Trial of Diddy’ podcast, Best stated:
“’All of my publishing rights went to Janice Combs,”
Noting Diddy’s current detainment on sex trafficking RICO charges, he continued:
‘I’m here to talk about a different section of his allegations… and what I feel to believe involves his mother, Janice Combs. The [Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act] is about holding people accountable for systematic actions.”
He furthered:
“’These actions have caused financial hardship, emotional hardship, but not only myself, but other artists in the business through what I feel was fraudulent and coercive activity. And I think that Janice Combs falls under those guidelines.”
Best claims that he brought several musicians to help work on some of the labels biggest albums, including Biggie’s 1999 platinum selling project “Born Again”.
Instead of being compensated fairly for their work, however, Best claims Diddy organized the deals in a way that saw all the proceeds made from the music go to Janice.
Best added that he plans to formally file a legal complaint against Janice and Diddy in the coming future in hopes to secure what he feels he’s owed.
As previously reported, on September 16, 2024, Combs was arrested by U.S. Homeland Security investigators in Manhattan after he was indicted by a grand jury.
He is charged with sex trafficking and racketeering. During his first court appearance at a Manhattan federal courthouse on September 17, 2024, Combs pled not guilty. During this court appearance, U.S. Magistrate Judge Robyn Tarnofsky denied Combs bail and ordered for him to remain to jail.
His attorneys offered a $50 million bond, but on September 18, a second judge, Andrew L. Carter Jr., also denied bail, as he is concerned about potential witnesses being threatened or intimidated.
Combs is detained in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center. On September 24, a woman filed a lawsuit against Combs, alleging Combs and his head of security drugged her, bound her, and raped her in 2001 when she was 25 years old.
