Zendaya Says She’s Not The Reason For Season 3 ‘Euphoria’ Delay: ‘I’ve Been Open’
Euphoria star Zendaya wants her fans to know she’s not the reason the show’s been on a 2-year hiatus.
It’s no secret that viewers of the hit HBO series Euphoria are beyond irritated by how long it’s been since the show has dropped new episodes. As reported, HBOI/Max boss Casey Bloys recently confirmed production for season 3 will finally start “mid to late January” and will include 8 episodes.
Despite the production timeline being shared, fans still have concerns over the cast. Angus Cloud, who played Fezco “Fez” O’Neill, will be missing as he passed away in July 2023, from an accidental drug overdose. There have also been whispers that leading lady Zendaya’s busy schedule caused the series hold-up and could keep her from returning full-time for the new season.

However, during a newly published interview with Vanity Fair, the 28-year-old Emmy Award winner clarified she’s not to blame for Euphoria’s extended pause.
“I will say, I have been off for a couple years, so not delayed because of my…I’ve been open, just waiting. [Laughs.] I’ve been waiting. I’m actually going to start filming a project soon before Euphoria, and I’m like, Man, I’m rusty. I haven’t been on a set in, like, two years almost. I’m a little bit terrified. I’m like, Can I even do this anymore? I don’t know.”
Not too long ago it was announced that Zendaya would be joining Christopher Nolan’s new film, which is believed to begin shooting in early 2025. It’s highly suspected that she’ll reprise her role as MJ in Spider-Man 4, which is also shooting in 2025.
Zendaya, who also serves as an executive producer for Euphoria, continued,
“[Euphoria] is slated for January, I believe. I haven’t read anything yet, but I’m excited to see what everyone has been working on, and what the future looks like for Euphoria. I don’t really have much of an answer except for right now it’s set to start shooting in January. My most important thing is to do justice by the people who love and care about Rue, and make sure that she’s looked after as a character. I think that’s my number one duty.”
