Kanye West & Ty Dolla Sign Sued For Copyright Infringement Over Vultures 1 Track ‘Fuk Sumn’
Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign are facing a copyright infringement lawsuit after Memphis rappers claimed their work was used without credit on Ye’s track “Fuk Sumn” from Vultures 1.
The lawsuit, filed by Vanda Watkins (Criminal Manne), Hayward Ivy (DJ Squeeky), and the estate of late rapper Kilo G, accuses West and his Yeezy record label team of stealing their voices for the song.
According to the plaintiffs, the intro of “Fuk Sumn,” which features the lines “Smokin’ on a junt, with my n**** drinkin’ O.E.” is actually Criminal Manne’s voice from DJ Squeeky’s track “Drank a Yak (Part 2).” Kilo G’s voice is also allegedly sampled later in the song, where it says, “Stop off at the liquor store, get your yak, then we headed for the indo.”

The plaintiffs said they attempted to negotiate sample clearance when Vultures 1 was set to drop in March, but the discussions stalled after a major shakeup within Yeezy’s team in June. Allegedly, they still haven’t been paid and have had no contact with the Yeezy camp, leading them to believe they are being ignored.
Now, the Memphis veterans are requesting damages.
