American Airlines Cracks Down On People Who Cut The Line to Board Faster, Known As ‘Gate Lice’
American Airlines is expanding its new technology to combat “gate lice,” where passengers try to board before their assigned group.
This system alerts staff if someone attempts early boarding, automatically rejecting the ticket.
Initially tested at three airports, it will now roll out to over 100 airports ahead of the holiday season. Julie Rath, American’s senior vice president, noted the positive reception from customers and staff. Travelers with companions in an earlier boarding group can still board together.
The technology also helps staff manage boarding more effectively.
Are they doing too much or this a real problem in airports?
