Kehlani Speaks On Risk She Took Incorporating More Than Just R&B In Her Latest Album ‘Crash’
Kehlani is opening up about her desire to make more than just R&B music.
During a recent interview with the Associated Press, Kehlani dished on why it was important for her to break free from fans’ expectations when creating her latest album, Crash. She shared,
“I was taking a risk, because I’m one of those artists that have been around long enough for people to pigeonhole me into a sound.”

Crash, released on June 21, 2024, features elements of not just R&B, but also rock, dance floor, rap, and country. The project earned Kehlani three Grammy nominations, including one for Best R&B Progressive Album.
