Father Calls Out Virginia Hospital After NICU Nurse Was Arrested For Injuring Babies
Dominique Hackey, father of a baby injured at Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, is speaking out after 26-year-old nurse Erin Strotman was arrested in connection to injuries of multiple NICU babies.
Hackey’s baby was found with broken bones in 2023, and he’s frustrated by the slow progress in the investigation. He recalled Strotman’s behavior in the NICU, saying,
“I remember her being in the room. She was friendly. She answered questions, but she didn’t stay and talk like the other NICU nurses did. She wasn’t family like the other NICU nurses were.”

Strotman, who is facing felony child neglect and malicious wounding charges for a 2024 incident, had been placed on paid leave following the 2023 cases. Hackey is upset about her return to work, adding,
“That shouldn’t have happened. If they were suspicious of some person enough to let them go, they shouldn’t have brought them back. That’s on them. They failed.”
The investigation continues as Henrico Police revisit both the 2023 and 2024 cases.
