TikTok Makes A Comeback In U.S. App Stores As Trump Delays Ban Until April 5
TikTok has returned to Apple and Google’s U.S. app stores after President Donald Trump delayed its ban until April 5. The popular short video app, used by 170 million Americans, resumed its services just weeks after going dark. Donald Trump‘s executive order postponed the ban for 75 days, allowing TikTok to operate temporarily. The directive assured Apple and Google they would not be penalized for continuing to distribute or maintain the app.
TikTok was the second most downloaded app in the U.S. in 2024, with over 52 million downloads, according to Sensor Tower. Roughly 52% of those downloads came from the Apple App Store, with the remaining 48% from Google Play.
As TikTok resumes operations, many users remain eager to access the platform.
The temporary reprieve provides a pause for both the company and the app stores, with no fines imposed during the extension.
