‘Black Panther’ Director Ryan Coogler Recalls Chadwick Boseman’s De@th Hitting Michael B. Jordan ‘The Hardest’
Ryan Coogler is reflecting on the impact Chadwick Boseman’s de@th had on him and Michael B. Jordan.
In a recent The Breakfast Club interview, Coogler shared how Boseman’s passing in 2020 from colon cancer hit Jordan the hardest. “Out of all of my actors, Chad’s de@th actually hit Mike the hardest,” Coogler said, noting that Boseman’s wisdom and old-school work ethic made him a role model to both him and Jordan. “He gave me and Michael patience… He moved at an old-school pace and was always early.”
Coogler also recalled how committed Boseman was to staying in character, even off-camera:
“They [an executive from Disney] was freaked out and I was like, ‘Don’t be freaked out, he working man. He don’t turn it off till we wrap.’”
Having worked together again on Sinners, a new adventure film, Coogler said he used Boseman’s dedication to inspire Jordan and help him “lock in.”
Sinners is in theaters April 18.
