Dominican Republic Nightclub Roof Collapse Leaves At Least 27 De@d, Over 150 Injured
Authorities are searching for survivors following a tragic incident at a nightclub in the Dominican Republic.
According to a report from BBC, at least 27 people have been confirmed dead and more than 150 others hospitalized after the roof collapsed at the Jet Set Discotheque in Santo Domingo early Tuesday morning (April 8).
A concert by popular merengue singer Rubby Pérez was taking place at the venue at the time. Authorities have yet to determine what caused the collapse.

The director of the Emergency Operations Centre (COE), Juan Manuel Méndez, stated that a rescue team of over 400 has been deployed to the site, and he remains hopeful that more survivors will be found.
One of Pérez’s band members reportedly told local news outlets that the club was full when the roof gave in “around 1 a.m.” The singer’s daughter also shared that he was among those initially trapped in the rubble.
Rescue and recovery operations are still ongoing at this time.
