Producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones Asks Court For Permission To Serve Cuba Gooding Jr. & Justin Combs Via Newspaper In $exual A$$ault Lawsuit Against Diddy
In a new development in the federal lawsuit against Sean “Diddy” Combs, producer Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones is taking an unusual legal step in his effort to bring Cuba Gooding Jr. and Justin Dior Combs into the case.
Rodney Jones’ attorney has informed the court that despite multiple attempts, he has been unable to formally serve Cuba Gooding Jr. and Justin Combs with legal documents identifying them as defendants.
In response, the attorney is now requesting permission from a federal judge to serve the two men through public notice — specifically by publishing the summons in major newspapers.
This method, known as “service by publication,” is typically considered a last resort and is generally approved only when conventional means of serving someone — such as in-person delivery or certified mail — have been thoroughly exhausted.

The lawsuit stems from serious allegations brought by Rodney Jones, who has accused Diddy of sexual assault and other misconduct. Cuba Gooding Jr. and Justin Dior Combs were later named as additional defendants in amended filings, though the specifics of their alleged involvement have not been publicly detailed.
The court has not yet ruled on the request for service by publication, but if granted, it would allow the lawsuit to move forward against all named defendants, even if they have not been personally served.
Representatives for Gooding Jr. and Justin Combs have not commented on the matter. Diddy has denied all allegations and faces multiple ongoing investigations.
