Pope Francis Thanked His Nurse & Waved Goodbye Shortly Before Passing Away
Pope Francis’ final moments have been revealed by the Vatican, offering a glimpse into his last words and actions.
On Easter Sunday, before appearing in front of 50,000 in St. Peter’s Square, he asked his nurse, Massimiliano Strappetti, “Do you think I can manage it?”
With encouragement, the 88-year-old pontiff toured the square in the Popemobile, embracing people along the way. Afterward, he expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for bringing me back to the Square.”
He later rested and had a quiet dinner. Early Monday morning, he began showing signs of illness around 5:30 AM. Just before falling into a coma from a heart issue, Pope Francis waved goodbye to Strappetti—his final gesture. His funeral is scheduled for 10 AM Saturday in St. Peter’s Square.
Prayers for Pope Francis’ loved ones.
