In a newly surfaced interview with DJ Akademiks, Durk’s attorney Drew Findling gave his take on why RICO charges are often the go-to for prosecutors these days. He stated:
“RICO is for the weak-legged prosecutor that’s scared of losing…You don’t have to prove [RICO] offenses, you just have to show a pattern of behavior… it just makes their job easier.”
Findling even likened the use of RICO to “baseball players on steroids,” saying it gets the job done by boosting the prosecution’s chances of conviction without needing hard evidence on individual crimes.
As you may know, Durk, born Durk Banks, is reportedly facing multiple charges, including alleged connections to organized crime, which falls under Georgia’s RICO Act.
While details of the indictment are still developing, authorities have been cracking down on artists they claim are affiliated with gangs, and Durk’s name has popped up in several investigations.
He’s currently being held without bond as prosecutors argue that his alleged involvement in a series of crimes shows a consistent pattern—making him a prime target for a RICO case.
Do you think prosecutors are relying too heavily on RICO charges? Or are they doing their job? Drop your thoughts below. ???
