Joy urged people to educate themselves before speaking on the topic, calling out those who default to the question, “Why don’t [victims] just leave?”
She broke down how abuse can gradually “deteriorate” a victim’s ability to make rational decisions for themselves, citing manipulation and gaslighting as common tactics abusers use to maintain control.
Her comments come amid continued discussion around Diddy’s ongoing sex trafficking case and the abuse allegations made by his former partner, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura.
