Tina Knowles took a moment to explain how her father’s name, Lumis Albert Beyincé, inspired the name of her daughter, Beyoncé.

According to Tina, her last name at birth had a slight misspelling. This was also an issue that her entire family endured. For this reason, she chose the name Beyoncé as a way to pay homage to the last name passed down by her father in several variations.
