‘Basketball Wives’ Alum Brittish Williams Asks Judge To Shorten Her Sentence After Appeal Fails: ‘I’m Trying To Better Myself’
Brittish Williams wants freedom.
The former Basketball Wives star recently wrote a letter to the judge overseeing her fraud case, asking for a reduced sentence after losing her appeal.
Back in October 2023, Brittish was sentenced to four years in prison and ordered to pay back $565,000 after pleading guilty to multiple counts of tax, bank, and wire fraud. She began serving her sentence in early 2024.
Despite reaching a plea deal with prosecutors, Brittish’s legal team argued that the judge imposed a harsher sentence than what had been agreed to because of her celebrity status. Her appeal was denied earlier this year, with the court ruling, “The district court did not abuse its discretion.”

However, Brittish tried again. In a handwritten letter, she asked the court to reconsider her sentence based on her good behavior in prison:
“I have had clear conduct since I have been incarcerated. I have created and [led] courses in the education department to teach women how to create businesses. I’m on the rec committee for the prison. I’m actively programming and trying to better myself and women within the prison.”
She also noted that she’s been making monthly restitution payments.
Despite her efforts, the court denied Brittish’s request for a sentence reduction.
Is the court being too hard on Brittish?
