Judge Rejects Sean Kingston’s Mother’s Bid To Be Sentenced On The Same Day As Her Son In $1 Million Luxury Fraud Case
According to All Hip-Hop, Janice Turner hoped to share the spotlight—and the consequences—on sentencing day with her son, Sean Kingston. But a Florida judge isn’t allowing it.
U.S. District Judge David S. Leibowitz denied Turner’s request to be sentenced on August 15, the same day Kingston will learn his fate in their high-profile fraud case.
Despite no objection from prosecutors or the probation office, the judge refused her unopposed motion to simply be sentenced earlier that same day.
Her hearing remains locked in for July 11 at 9 a.m.
Turner, 61, was convicted in March of helping orchestrate a scheme with Kingston to scam luxury vendors using fake wire transfers and forged documents.
They scored high-end items like a $285K jewelry order, a $160K Escalade, and even an $86K luxury bed—all under the guise of Kingston’s fame.
She’s in custody; Kingston remains on house arrest.
