Damson Idris Reacts To Rumors He May Be Cast As The Next ‘Black Panther,’ Says He’s Open To Joining The Franchise
Looks like Damson Idris just might be suiting up for Wakanda.
The British actor stopped by the Today show earlier today (June 18) to promote his upcoming racing film F1, and quickly addressed the rumors that he may be cast as the next Black Panther in the hit Marvel franchise.
When asked whether he’s had any conversations about joining the next installment, the 33-year-old didn’t exactly shut it down, responding with a cheeky: “Yes-no!”
After journalist Craig Melvin laughed and pushed for more, suggesting that even a “yes-no” still sounded like a “yes,” Damson joked, “It could mean no.” When asked directly if he’d say yes if offered the role, the Snowfall star gave a confident: “Yes.”

The role of Black Panther was originally held by the late Chadwick Boseman, whose powerful portrayal of King T’Challa left an unforgettable mark on Marvel fans worldwide. Following his passing in 2020, the mantle was taken up by Letitia Wright’s character, Shuri, T’Challa’s brilliant sister, in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
While execs say nothing is set in stone yet regarding Black Panther 3, which has already been greenlit, there’s clearly momentum behind the buzz of Damson stepping into the Marvel universe.
Would you be here for Damson’s takeover of the Black Panther legacy?
