Kamala Harris’ Team Reportedly Asked Mark Cuban To Be Vetted For Her VP, He Said No
Mark Cuban says he turned down an offer to be vetted as Kamala Harris’s running mate in the 2024 election.
The billionaire told The Bulwark’s Tim Miller that the offer came directly from Harris’s team, but he passed due to his lack of political experience and disinterest in the VP role. “I’m not very good as the No. 2 person,” he said. “The last thing we need is me telling Kamala, you know, the president, that, no, that’s a dumb idea. Right. And I’m not real good at the shaking hands and kissing babies.”
He joked, “She would have fired me within six days.”
When asked if his nomination might have changed the outcome of the race, the Shark Tank star said, “My personality is completely different than Tim’s. My experiences, my backgrounds are completely different. I think I’ve cut through the sh*t more directly. I’m not a politician… It would have been different, but it would have been awful.”
Cuban did serve as a surrogate for Harris during the campaign and admitted to frequently going off script, including breaking with her on immigration and taxes. Still, he said, “I really thought she was going to win.”
