Suge Knight Claims Tupac’s Mother Once Gave Him Pills To Help Him End His Life & Avoid Going Back To Jail
Suge Knight is revealing heartbreaking new claims about Tupac Shakur’s final days, alleging that the late rapper was ready to let go of life, and that his mother, Afeni Shakur, was willing to take extreme measures to honor his wishes.
While speaking to PEOPLE from prison, Suge recounted the chaotic aftermath of the 1996 Las Vegas shooting that left both him and Tupac wounded. Reflecting on their conversation in the ambulance that night, Suge stated the two were trying to keep their spirits up, with Tupac allegedly saying:
“‘Sh*t, when we heal up, you know what we doing.’”

But despite joking in the moment, Suge claimed Tupac no longer wanted to live if it meant returning to prison for his alleged role in a casino brawl caught on camera earlier that evening. According to Suge, while awaiting emergency surgery, Tupac begged him to help end his life, even offering to record a will and create a song to explain his decision. Suge said the rap icon often told those around him, “‘I’ll die before I go back [to jail],’” and was serious.
When his crew denied him help to end his life, Suge alleged Tupac pleaded with his mother to assist him, and that Afeni gave him pills to help expedite the process.
“The doctors came in and brought him back. And his mom said, ‘Don’t ever do that again. If he’s having complications, don’t touch him,’” Suge claimed. He said she added, “‘Don’t bring him back. Let him go.’”
Tupac passed away from his injuries on September 13, 1996, after undergoing multiple surgeries, including the removal of a lung. His unsolved murder case reemerged in headlines after Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested in September 2023. He remains in custody, with his trial scheduled for 2026.
