Pussycat Dolls’ Ashley Roberts Reflects On Grueling Tour Life, Says She Became Dependent On Xanax & Was ‘So Sick’ Doctors Feared She Had An Aneurysm

Former Pussycat Dolls member Ashley Roberts is opening up about how intense fame and nonstop touring with the girl group took a major toll on her health.

In a new interview with The Times UK, the singer and dancer, who was with the group from 2003 to 2010 and again during their 2019–2021 reunion, revealed that she became so unwell at one point, doctors feared she had a brain aneurysm.

“Eventually, my body just got to the point of shutdown. I was really, really sick,” she shared.

The 43-year-old said the pressure built up over years of performing without proper care or rest. She admitted to poor eating and sleeping habits and an over-reliance on Xanax, emphasizing:

“There were no discussions around, ‘How is your mental health?’ It was a different era…At one point, I was in three countries in one day.”

Ashley also recalled being hospitalized in London, where stress-related symptoms led to a suspected aneurysm and extreme exhaustion. Even then, she felt pressure to keep working:

“I remember saying [in the hospital], ‘I need to get on a flight to Germany. I’ve got a show to do. You gotta give me something.’”

By the time she left the group, the toll was visible. She said:

“I had eczema all over my legs, shingles across my face, and a stomach ulcer… It was a manifestation of ‘go, go, go’ for years… at a time when nobody really spoke up about anything.”

We’re glad to see she’s in much better health these days.

Are you surprised to hear what Ashley was going through during her time with The Pussycat Dolls?
