Fictional K-Pop Band HUNTR/X Becomes First Girl Group To Score No. 1 Single On Hot 100 Since Destiny’s Child In 2001
An animated band has joined the history books alongside Destiny’s Child.
Golden, a record from the fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X, has landed at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. According to reports, the song has garnered nearly 32 million streams, 8.4 million radio airplay audience impressions, and 7,000 copies sold in the US. The single is featured on the album for the Netflix film KPop Demon Hunters, which is also doing well on the charts.

HUNTR/X is now the only female K-pop group in the entire history of the Billboard Hot 100 to achieve this feat, and the first girl group of any genre to land at No. 1 since Destiny’s Child’s 2001 hit Bootylicious. KPop Demon Hunters was released in June and quickly became a popular film thanks to its characters and original music.
