CEO Of Black-Owned Whiskey Brand Uncle Nearest Denies Losing Control Of Company, Encourages Customers To ‘Keep Clearing The Shelves’

CEO Of Black-Owned Whiskey Brand Uncle Nearest Denies Losing Control Of Company, Encourages Customers To ‘Keep Clearing The Shelves’
Customers of Uncle Nearest are being urged to “keep clearing the shelves” after reports suggested the brand’s future was in question.
In an Instagram Reel posted Saturday (Aug. 16), CEO Fawn Weaver addressed rumors claiming she no longer controls the whiskey brand, saying, “Some reports claim I no longer own Uncle Nearest. Let me be clear: I built this company, I own this company, I run this company.”
She added, “Our team remains unshaken and unmoved. If that ever changes, you’ll hear it directly from me, and I know you’ll respond accordingly.”

The post came after a legal battle with lender Farm Credit Mid America, which claims the company defaulted on $108 million in loans and misused funds. A Tennessee judge ordered that the Weavers remain in control of the brand’s marketing, with both parties set to submit suggestions for a new receiver by August 20.
Despite the controversy, Weaver encouraged customers to continue showing support at retailers.
