Phoenix Student F@tally $tabbed During Fight At Maryvale High School: ‘Terrible Tragedy’
One student is d*ad following a st*bbing at Maryvale High School in Phoenix on August 19, according to the Arizona Department of Education.
Police said they responded around 11:00 a.m. after reports of a f*ght between two male students.
“Officers arrived and learned there was a fight involving two male students,” read part of the police statement. Officials confirmed there are no ongoing thr*ats.
“Parents have been notified by the school, and they request for parents to continue following the school directions for release,” police added.
Arizona Superintendent Tom Horne called the death “a terrible tragedy,” adding, “Schools must be safe places. The on-campus school safety officer responded immediately, rendered aid to the student and did his job well.”
Phoenix Union school board member Jeremiah Cota said, “My thoughts and prayers are with the students, staff, and families.” Councilmember Betty Guardado said she was “heartbroken and deeply disturbed,” stressing that classrooms “should be a safe place for all students.”
