Philly Daycare Worker Accused Of Assaulting 6-Year-Old, Child’s Mom Speaks Out: ‘Why Did No One Help My Daughter?’ [VIDEO]

A Philadelphia daycare worker is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a six-year-old girl.

According to a police affidavit, 50-year-old Nakia Bartley, who worked at Rainbow Daycare & Learning Center, pushed the child to the ground, dragged her by the legs into a bathroom, and punched her in the mouth. Detectives said several videos of the incident were captured by daycare attendees.

The victim’s mother, Diamond Murray, opened up about seeing the footage, saying, “I was furious. I got the video while I was at work. I dropped my phone. I just started crying. Where are all the other adults? Why did no one help my daughter? My daughter screams. She screamed and screamed and screamed. Every video you hear, she’s screaming. Nobody ever helped my daughter.”

Her daughter suffered a cut to her mouth and now has a loose tooth.

However, Bartley’s lawyer told FOX 29 the videos show only a small part of the incident: “My client started working in daycare in the early 90s in 1993, and it shows that she has an impeccable record. She’s cared for probably over a thousand, if not more, children who all live here in Philadelphia and has not had a single complaint.”

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services issued an emergency removal order, shutting down the daycare and helping affected families find alternative childcare.

Bartley was released from custody on the condition that she have no unsupervised time with children. Her next scheduled court appearance on Monday (Aug. 25) is expected to be postponed.
