Spotify Introduces In-App DMs For Users 16+
Spotify is rolling out a new DM feature!
The new one-on-one messaging feature, called Messages, is being introduced this week for users aged 16 and older in select markets. It allows users to share songs, podcasts, and audiobooks directly within Spotify, rather than relying on third-party apps like Instagram or WhatsApp.
According to Spotify, “users have told us that they want a dedicated space within the app to share their next favorite song, podcast, or audiobook with friends and family, and an easy way to keep track of recommendations.”

While it’s still unclear how widely the feature will be used, Spotify is banking on the DMs boosting engagement. Safety features are also built in, and users can accept or reject message requests, block others, and report anything suspicious. Spotify says it will use “proactive detection technology” and “industry-standard encryption” to keep things secure.
Are you excited to take advantage of Spotify’s new DM feature?
