Snoop Dogg Says He Was ‘Caught Off Guard’ Amid Backlash Over Remarks About Lesbian Couple In Pixar’s ‘Lightyear’: ‘My Bad… I’m Not Perfect’

Responding to a clip of TV personality TS Madison calling him out, Snoop took to the comments section, writing:
“I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons. All my gay friends [know] what’s up, they been calling me with love.”
He added:
“My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6-yr-old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect.”
The hip-hop legend originally made the controversial comments on the It’s Giving podcast, saying a scene showing Alisha Hawthorne and her wife “threw [him] for a loop” and made him “scared to go to the movies.”
Madison was one of many to publicly speak out, questioning why Snoop was fine with explicit scenes in his music videos but uncomfortable with “a sweet scene between women,” calling his remarks “rooted in a little bit of homophobia.”
Snoop’s remarks also caught the attention of Lightyear writer Lauren Gunderson, who helped write the scene and stood firmly behind the decision to include same-sex characters. She stated:
“I created the LIGHTYEAR lesbians… Small line, big deal. I was elated that they kept it. I’m proud of it. To infinity. Love is love.”
Do you think Snoop’s response was sincere, or should critics keep holding him accountable?
