Lori Harvey Says Doctors Ignored Her Pain for Years Before Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) & Endometriosis Diagnosis: I Felt Gaslit

Lori Harvey is getting real about health challenges that many women face in silence.

In a candid appearance on the “SheMD” podcast with Dr. Thaïs Aliabadi and Mary Alice Haney, the 28-year-old model revealed she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis—two common but often overlooked health conditions that affect millions of women.

PCOS is a hormonal disorder that can cause irregular periods, weight gain, acne, facial hair, and fertility issues. Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside of it, often causing severe cramping, chronic pain, and digestive problems.

Harvey said she had been struggling with symptoms since she was 16, including painful periods, weight fluctuations, acne, and abnormal facial hair. Despite visiting doctors, she was constantly told nothing was wrong.

Every time I go to [my gynecologist], she’s like, ‘You’re fine, you’re fine, you’re fine.’ And I was like, ‘But I don’t feel fine,’” she shared, also adding “I felt gaslit.

Everything changed when she met Dr. Aliabadi.

She literally changed my life,” Harvey said. “I used to have the most excruciating periods… just debilitating.

Harvey now takes medication to manage her symptoms and says she finally feels like herself.

I feel good in my body finally for once,” she said.

By sharing her story, Harvey hopes to encourage more women to advocate for their health.

We’re just kind of all living with this thing and nobody’s getting treated for it,” she added.

Have you ever struggled with these conditions?
