Derrick Groves, Last Of 10 New Orleans Jail Escapees, Captured In Atlanta After Months On The Run & Standoff w/ Police
Authorities have finally tracked down #DerrickGroves.
Groves was the last of 10 inmates who escaped from the Orleans Justice Center in #NewOrleans on May 16. According to reports, police apprehended Groves in #Atlanta following a standoff. Before escaping, he was serving a life sentence for second-degree m#rder after being convicted in 2024 of opening fire at a #MardiGras block party, k!lling two people and injuring several others.
As reported, Groves and nine other inmates made headlines over the summer for breaking out through a hole behind a toilet in the jail. While most escapees were quickly recaptured, #Groves remained elusive, reportedly changing his appearance to avoid detection. He’s expected to face additional charges related to the escape.
