Offset Four Years Sober From Le@n, Says Question From Eldest Son Pushed Him To Get Clean

Offset’s first son helped him walk away from a serious addiction.

On the latest “Baby, This Is #KekePalmer” podcast, Offset opened up about how pressures of fame led him to depend on le@n. He said, “I was taking to the cup, and then you know what you get tricked on? A lot of artists, I feel like, be tricked on like, ‘Oh, I can’t make music without the dr*gs.’”

Offset continued, saying his family could see a difference in him as his addiction progressed. “My mama started telling me, ‘Hey boy, I don’t like you on this…you aggravated, and you ain’t being my son.’

However, it wasn’t until his son Jordan, now 15, asked him a question that #Offset knew it was time for a change. “My oldest son kept asking for like pineapple Fanta, but he don’t even really drink soda… And then one day he came in studio like, ‘Why yours is different color than mine?’ It k!lled me.

Offset said he “d*mn near cried,” sharing he felt “bad as a father” because he didn’t realize how closely his child was watching him. The Bodies rapper added, “He don’t even notice it’s dr*gs in here though. He don’t know, but in my head it’s like, him even just saying he want the same soda I want. It’s just like, ‘Oh no, I’m influencing him.’”

Thankfully, that moment became a wake-up call for Offset, and he’s now been sober for four years.
