Akon Requests Joint Custody Of 17-Year-Old Daughter & No Spousal Support For Estranged Wife Tomeka Thiam Amid Divorce Battle
Akon’s divorce battle drama continues.
#Akon, born Aliaune Badara Thiam, has formally responded to the divorce filing by his estranged wife, Tomeka Thiam. The pair married in 1996, and Tomeka filed for divorce in September 2025, just four days before what would have been their 29th wedding anniversary. In court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Akon is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their 17-year-old daughter, Journey, and also asking that no spousal support be awarded to Tomeka.
In contrast to Akon’s request, Tomeka’s initial divorce filing sought sole legal custody and physical custody of Journey, while granting Akon only visitation rights. She also requested spousal support for herself and asked that Akon be denied any spousal support.
Do you think Akon’s request for joint custody and no spousal support is fair?
